Fresh Grapefruit Agave Margaritas
One of my all-time favorite cocktails is The Solution at River & Rail. It's a grapefruit margarita with agave nectar and finished off with a cinnamon and sugar lined rim. It's heavenly.
For awhile now, I've been wanting to recreate this little masterpiece of a cocktail and well, I did it. After some major trial and error (I spilled part of the drink while shaking and pretty much got grapefruit juice everywhere) I finally got it on lock. If you're craving a fresh end of summer marg, this one should be your go-to like yesterday.
1.5 ounce silver tequila
1 ounce Cointreau
1 tablespoon agave nectar
3/4 fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 fresh squeezed grapefruit
1/2 fresh squeezed lemon
Directions:
In a martini shaker, add lime, grapefruit, lemon and agave nectar.
Add Cointreau and tequila.
Add ice to shaker. I also add the fruit to the shaker.
Shake well.
In 2 glasses, muddle grapefruit and lime. Add ice.
Strain mix over ice.
Side note:
This was a major trial and error drink. I give bartenders some major props because I definitely had to add a little more of this and a little more of that to get it just right. However, the end result was perfect!
