Makeup Hack: How-to Get Vibrant & Pigmented Eye Shadow

{ NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in milk & my favorite eye shadow palette, Pop Beauty Portfolio. }

So if you know me, you know I basically live at Ulta. When you know the specific days they re-stock particular brands, you know you might have a little bit of an issue. Alright maybe a big issue, but that’s an entirely different story for a later time.

As many of you know, I’ve been pretty much embracing the whole ‘treat yourself’ mentality and it’s really working in my makeup bag’s favor. A few weeks ago, I watched this YouTube video by one of my favorite vloggers, Deepica. This girl’s got some major makeup street cred and I’m a little obsessed with her beauty hacks. She’s not only worked at Birchbox (love this company and their culture, by the way), but has been featured on the Today Show and Elle. Ok, so she’s basically living the dream. Jealous.

In honor of one of her tips, I picked up this NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in milk. Most of us wouldn’t typically grab a white eye shadow pencil, but let me explain how this bad boy can transform your eye shadow game.

First, it’s $4.50. Win. Second this makes your eye shadow pop like whoa. Win X’s two. Creating a white base on your eyelid is key to getting a pop of color and a more pigmented look with all your eye shadows. Seriously, it’s crazy how much this tiny step changed the way my shadows looked on my lids.

Let me break it down:

Step 1: Swipe the white pencil on your lids. You will look like a mime for .1 seconds, but bare with me.

Step 2: With your finger, rub shadow in on lid.

Step 3: Apply your shadow by tapping shadow brush in eye shadow. Pat eye shadow on lid to achieve a more pigmented look.

Step 4: Boom. Watch how crazy pigmented your shadow gets by just adding a white base.
