One Month In The Queen City
Since I was living out of a suitcase and a few medium-sized duffle bags for over a month, you could say I was counting down the seconds till my official move-in date: January 2. Yes, indeed.
My first month in Charlotte was pretty non-existent because of the approaching holiday season and the obvious need to be home with my family. Although I was home 3 weekends in December, I naturally felt like my CLT life was an exaggerated vacation. Yes, I went to-and-from work and did the monotonous daily tasks, but I still felt like I was just crashing at a friend’s house for a month long slumber party, which I was essentially doing. Thanks Stephannie and Mason!
Now that I’m officially moved into my apartment; with pictures on the walls and my trash bags of clothes put away (:: modest pat on the back ::) – I feel a little more Charlotte official. It’s exciting, to say the least, but it’s a teeny bit bittersweet. I’m not quite sure the next time I’ll be driving through Roanoke or the next time I’ll see my dad, and it’s all a little overwhelming. Maybe reality hit or maybe I’m just am going through a homesick spurt? Whatever it may be, I know I’ll have way too many of those lonely thoughts in the next few months. I know I’m not quite ready to call Charlotte ‘home’, but hopefully in the near future it’ll feel a little more homey for this notorious homebody. I can only hope.
