When it comes to a proper skincare routine, this girl is considered the laziest of the lazy. If falling asleep in eye makeup is standard then consider me a pro. Since I've been a 20-something-year-old, I've realized that my Clean and Clear every other night isn't necessarily cutting it for my skin. Hey, I mean at least I'm buying face wash, doesn't that count for something? Ok, maybe not.
I've always been one who spends a good amount of money on hair products and I'm notorious for investing in higher end foundations and other justifiable pricey makeup products, but when it comes to skincare I never know what product is right for me. As much as I should do some research for my sensitive skin (Dove bar soap is a must in my shower routine), I just haven't given any products an adequate chance. After a sample or two of a night serum, I just move on to the next best thing. I must say prior to giving Rodan + Fields products a whirl, I was just like a lot of you out there; hesitant to give these self-proclaimed 'miracle' products a try. It just seemed like a sales-y Facebook gimmick that wasn't about to fool this lady. I was wrong. There I said it. W-r-o-n-g.
After trying a few of these self-proclaimed miracle products, I must say - they work. My go-to Rodan + Fields homegirl, Christi, let me sample a few of their products and they were game changers. As someone who has struggled with Keratosis Pilaris (those little bumps on the back of your arms; ladies, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) since I was a kid, I never thought I'd find a miracle cream to cure them. Then I did: R+F's Micro-Dermabrasion Paste + Step 2 of the Soothe Regimen. After a quick application of scrubbing on the exfoliator and applying a generous amount of serum - I could see results in as little as 30 minutes. Whoa.
Next up was my mini-facial. Let's make this clear, I've never had a facial in my life. :: Sad face :: I was definitely long overdue for some extra pampering and R+F didn't disappoint. Here's the breakdown:
Step 1: Exfoliate face with the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste and add a little water (since I have sensitive skin, I only used about 1/3 of the paste). Work paste into skin using circular motions. Wet a wash cloth and wipe off face. Pat dry.
Step 2: Break apart the blue case, which is a night serum full of Retinol and peptides (apparently good stuff? Hey, I'm new at this stuff, ok.). Spread all over face.
Step 3: Break apart silver case, a lip renewing treatment, and spread all over your lips.
Step 4: Take out the Acute Care: Skincare for Expression Lines. This one was kind of like a Biore strip. Pick an area on your face where you have a fine line. I picked one of my laugh lines. I opened the strip and placed on my laugh line and gently pressed down. Leave on over night.
Acute Care Conclusion: I peeled off the strip and my laugh line was barely there. I was surprised to see that this one really worked!
Overall conclusion on mini-facial: I really enjoyed this process, especially since I can't even the remember the day I exfoliated my face and used a serum. Embarrassing. Overall, I was really satisfied with the results. I especially loved the exfoliator and the Retinol/peptide serum, which made my skin as soft as a baby's bum.
Overall, I loved these products. They might be a little pricey and a little out of my price range, as of now, but they are definitely on my wish list. For now, I'll definitely be taking better care of my skin. Let's just say I'm doing a way better job of removing my makeup before bed. That's definitely a start, right? Cheers to good skin!
